Rugby World Cup

RWC
Friday 9th September. The day of the Spectacular, Rugby World Cup Grand Opening! This enthusiastic, entertaining event was located near Sky City, Auckland.
Approximately, I don’t know how many people were there because there were TOO Many heads to count which gave me a headache.
Finally it was 6:15 which meant the trophy deserving Dave Dobbyn sang the heart-warming song Welcome Home, Welcome Home! (People were still humming.)
1 hour later 600 men arrived for a frightening, ferocious haka. The mind-blowing performance stunned the audience as they were paralysed to their spots.
Eventually 3 hours later! The frizzy fireworks began! The lightning extravaganza was like a thrilling, gargantuan bombing party. To everyone’s amazement it finally ended with a scrutinizing finish. Finally it was game time! The All Blacks won the game 41-10 WOOO! We Won! So it ended well! Well... that’s for New Zealand that is! So New Zealand is a happy country (for the World Cup).

Rugby World Cup

Waiting in anticipation, the lights go dark, the crowd cheers... It alls starts now, as I sit down and wait for the opening to start. I open my coke, it pops and crackles as me and my family wait for it to start. I was wondering what the score would be. The date was the 9th September on Friday. I still couldn’t believe this was happening in Auckland.
Again the lights go dark but the crowd goes quiet and the lights flash on. There, in the middle of the soft, green field is the kapa Haka group shouting the Haka full power. They look at us with their fiery eyes and their incredible black face paint. Afterwards they have a great show with a boy scoring a try against real big rugby players.
Afterwards they shot multicoloured fire works into the sky shaped like kiwis. Once that was over the game began against Tonga and New Zealand. As they started Israel Dagg was the first to score which puts the All Blacks in the lead but for how long? Explaining the whole game would take forever so let’s skip to the end. The All Blacks won forty-one ten “Yeah!”

Rugby World Cup

Recount of the RWC Opening Ceremony
On Friday 9 September tens of thousands of people gathered round to witness history. THE RUGBY WORLD CUP 2011! People from around the world came to one spot, Queen’s Wharf not just to see the brilliant firework display, but to see the first match of the RWC, NZ vs. Tonga.
The opening ceremony was brilliant as it kicked off at Party Central while at 4:30pm a fleet of 20 waka came into Queen’s Wharf. They performed a massive haka containing about 400 Maori warriors. This reporter says that the haka was spectacular and if you weren’t there you should have been there.
After the haka various things followed like John Key, the NZ prime minister, gave a super speech, a three person waka and a few singers like Dave Dobbyn and the fantabulous Fin Bro’s.
At 7:30 the fanciful fireworks brightened up the city with appealing non-stop fireworks. One person was questioned “How were the fireworks?” He replied with, “Probably the most outstanding firework disclosure seen in NZ! The display was as valuable as gold!”
Finally a French guy opened the RWC 10 minutes before the NZ vs. Tonga game and the game ended with NZ being the winner.
The RWC is now taking people from all 4 corners of the globe to one country. If you were there, what would you say?
By I.K.

Rugby World Cup

On Friday the 9th of September, Jonah Lomu, AKA the human steamroller stepped on the legendary field once again, for the opening ceremony of the rugby world cup, held at Eden Park to greet fans from all around the world to New Zealand.
This was followed by Tonga’s anthem and New Zealand’s beautiful national song. Seconds later the horrifying hakas took place, done by Tonga as well as the All Blacks.
Dan Carter kicked off the most anticipated match of the year, (New Zealand vs Tonga), with a big and strong kick. In the first half Israil Dag scored the first try of RWC 2011, followed by a close conversion by Carter. And then, one more try by Richard Kahui followed by another one from Daggs amazing ball skills.
Tonga kicked off the second half and then failed to stop Jerome Kanoi from getting the ball over the line for a try. Then they swapped round a replay as Tonga scored a try followed by Nonus gnarly try putting this one in the bag, in one of the last plays in the match.
F.W.

Rugby World Cup

Recount about opening ceremony
For twenty five years New Zealanders have been waiting for the rugby world cup to come to them! The rugby world cup kicked off at Eden Park on Friday the ninth with an awesome ceremony with fireworks and shows. 10’s of 1000’s people gathered to make NZ history.
Lights, camera, ACTION! The ceremony was full of colours like red lava, blue water and dancing yellow. First of all, a kid named Ethan was playing a game of rugby and then big rugby players came to try and stop him. First he made the try line bend so he could put the ball down. Second he started side-stepping all the rugby players. Thirdly he ran up the players back and jumped into a swimming pool of players with a big splash.
I think that it was a great night and we had lots of fun. I can’t wait for the next RWC to come to NZ.

The awsome trip to the sky tower

On Tuesday 21 september 2011 Botany primary students went to the Sky tower. We learnt that the sky tower is 21 million KG!!WOW that's heavy.

More than 1000 people built it.The sky tower can withstand winds up to 200 kph now that's an amazing structure.

The sky tower is the tallest building around even bigger than the Effiel tower,Statue of Liberty, and the Empire State building.

At a normal pace it would take someone about 24 minutes to climb 1,029 steps to the main obeservation level.

The sky tower lifts travel at 18 kilometers per hour, making a trip to the main observation level a quick 40 seconds.

It was built by August 3 1997 and took 33 months to build this amazing structure out of concrete, glass, and metal.

It has 300 aerials coming off the tip of this man made structure to help t.v and police, ambulance and those types of things.

The best parts were when we could stare out the lift and look down the bottom and looking at the sky deck.

In the the end some people were talking about how awesome the Sky tower was and what they had learnt I also heard someone say that our new topic was awesome.

Room 12 Homework-Holidays

I hope everyone has a nice, relaxing and fun holiday. I am giving you time in advance to think about your speech topic. School speech competitions will be in the first half of term 3. I would like most people to come to school with a couple of ideas. Here are some ideas you can think about...
The speech has to be a persuasive speech.

Parents are
the best teachers.

Television
has destroyed communication among friends and family.

“When people succeed, it is because of hard work. Luck has
nothing to do with success.”

It is better for children to grow up in the countryside than in a big
city.

People should
sometimes do things that they do not enjoy doing.

The most
important aspect of a job is the money a person earns.

A person should
never make an important decision alone.

Games are
as important for adults as they are for children.

Some people say that computers have made life easier and more
convenient. Other people say that computers have made life more complex
and stressful. What is your opinion?

Technology has
made the world a better place to live.

There is
nothing that young people can teach older people.

Reading fiction
(such as novels and short stories) is more enjoyable than watching movies.

Children
should be required to help with household tasks as soon as they are
able to do so.

Playing a
game is fun only when you win.

It is better
to be a member of a group than to be the leader of a group.

What do you consider to be the most important room in a house?

Playing
games teaches us about life.

Watching
television is bad for children.

Maths Homework term2 week 11

We are consolidating our 'parking' strategy.
Remember
34-26= (park the 4 and 6)
30-20=10

Stu Duvall

Yesterday, Botany Downs Primary had an awesome, amazing opportunity to help get them involved with their new creative topic. The awesome opportunity was to see Stu Duval, live, in front of their eyes doing interesting, quick, detailed pictures.
He told them a lovely, detailed story about Piha beach and taught them a few tips and tricks about making cartoons. He also told them about how he began drawing and I wanted to know what he said. I searched through the school to find someone to tell me. Suddenly a Yr 6 girl offered to talk to me. She said, “He taught himself to draw because his teacher was bad at art. He was 5 when he started.

He started by looking around the class room and seeing the letters of the alphabet and made them into cartoons.”
Stu is now a famous author, illustrator, artist, story teller and a great cartoon drawer. He has a lot of fiction books where he has done everything himself. Stu has kept at it since he was 5 and now can draw a detailed picture on an A3 black piece of paper, in only two minutes. WOW!
The children went away from this very inspired and were eager to do cartooning with numbers and the letters of the alphabet. The day after, there was going to be a cartooning workshop and everyone wanted to go but only 5 were allowed. Most kids were trying so much to get chosen to. In the afternoon, the school waved goodbye to Stu Duval and hoped to see him soon.

Moment in time -Kawau

KAWAU ISLAND – A moment in time
I was excited to climb over the wooden ladder the tyres felt cold like a fish on ice.
The sun beamed a great big smile encouraging me.
Larissa and Jamie helped with finding large spiky branches to build our Bivouac.
The Frisbee sped through the air towards me. I caught it and threw it to
Rui Lyn.
When I looked over I saw Braden staring into the tunnel.

Moment in time- Kawau

Kayaking T.F.
As I sat in my wobbly kayak I felt the wetness under my feet. It was cold, wet and slippery. We drifted away and I saw everyone laughing and enjoying themselves. I’d never seen them so joyful and happy. The paddles made a swishing noise as I rowed to Survivor Island. I heard the trees rustling in the wind and the rocks crunching as I stepped on them.
The plastic, salty smell of the kayak reminded me of fish and chips. As we arrived at Survivor Island we went in a cave that was shaped like a heart. It was big and amazing and if you were stranded on Survivor Island the only thing you could eat is oysters and that smelt salty and sweet. The only shelter you would ever get is the cave so if I was you I wouldn’t want to be stranded on Survivor Island. We walked around and we saw seashells and magnificent rock pools. When it was time to go I got towed half way and then I paddled by myself all the way back and it was so much fun but my arms got sore. We got to camp, I wasn’t feeling nervous anymore. Actually I was as brave as a tiger and I wanted to do it again but I could only do it at down time.

Moment in time-Rock Climbing

Rock climbing
And there I was up so high I could felt gravity trying to pull me back to the hard brown ground. From the ground the rock climbing wall looked as high as Mount Everest.
I had the most beautiful view in the whole world. I could hear clapping and cheering. It was scary and awesome at the same time. I felt my hands about to slip off the bright blue rock on the rock climbing wall
Then I saw Fraser coming up too. He had his tongue out looking tired. Fraser was not as fast as me, I was like a cheetah running for my pray the top of the rock climbing wall.

Moment in time-Sonshine Ranch

The amazing water wheel
I balanced slowly across the beam to the amazing water wheel. It felt like I was jumping in slow motion on to the water wheel.
I could hear happy people screaming. I was feeling as scared as a fish and as nervous as a spider. I could feel with my hands wet wood and on the floor it was all soggy. I just fell straight into the water. I could taste green salty water. I was so, so, so proud I pushed in line so I could do it again. And all the people said to me,” Was that fun?” I said, “Yes”. “Was it scary/” I said “No.”

Horse riding
The smooth saddle was sticking to me as I nervously leapt over onto my horses back. The lady pulled the rope open and Dot.com shot out like a flash. As I got a strong grip of the reins there was a rush everywhere inside of me. I watched the track in fright. Large fierce cones were knocked over by my scared feet. Nervous sweat came drifting down my face and into my mouth. I said to myself you’ll be ok.
As I slightly looked down I felt like I was on a flying Pegasus in the sky a thousand meters high. I was really scared when we went through the poles; I thought his huge strong legs were going to stand on the poles. There was a shivering feeling in my spine as his hooves slowly went klippity, klop, klippity, klop.I went in and out through the course with a small amount of breath left in me. I felt like a sleepy clown trying not to laugh all of the energy out of me.
Ha ha ha, I said to myself. As I slowly stumbled off with a sleepy sigh. I was glad to meet the ground again. I sat down with a thud but I suddenly heard there was more. “More!” I said with a groan.

Horse riding
The horse was moving under me like a roller coaster., I did not feel safe. I have never, ever in my life rode a horse. People were cheering for me. Then my horse turned around and was eating my friend’s hair. It was funny. I heard the parents yelling, “You can do it.” I saw the small animals. When we went to go to small animals group 1 went first. Then it was our turn on the horses.
Giddy up, Giddy up, I said to my horse but he did not listen to me. That was my 2 days at camp at Son Shine Ranch.

Moment in time-Sonshine Ranch

Excerpt-Son Shine Ranch
After a while we went on the Flying Fox but first I went on the Rope Swing and I was saying to myself, “Don’t do it!”
When it was my turn I jumped off. I was screaming in my head, it was so scary. Then I went on the Flying Fox. When it was my turn my heart was beating fast. I counted in my head 3..2..1.. GO! I went down the Flying Fox, it was great. I wanted to go again but I couldn’t.
It was funny when the parents went down the Flying Fox. They looked silly and I laughed.

Jumping off the pontoon

As I climbed slowly up the slimy, soft floating stairs, I was really really nervous and scared of jumping out into the cold, deep water with large and small slimy black eagle rays underneath me. I told Chelsea and Caitlin that I couldn’t jump so they said we will jump with you and you can jump in the middle of us.
So I leapt out in mid-air and... SPLASH! I had jumped. Then I showed Chelsea and Caitlin that I could do it all by myself. Everyone moved out of my way and I did a crazy cat walk along the splinter wood and sharp nails poking out. I did a funky monkey pose in mid-air. Chelsea and Caitlin said well done. And I did it over and over and over again. That’s how much fun it was.

Moment in time-slides at hamner springs

Slides at Hamner Springs

As I sit and wait for the light to turn green. I put my hands on the slide and zoom off down the black hole. I am going up and down, side to side. It is so wicked that when I get to the bottom I fall into a cold pool that is very deep.
I was feeling so happy because the second time my lovely dad went with me. We both had a wicked time. First my dad went on the black hole and I went on the white slide. I was so scared that I was going to come off the side because it is half open but I didn’t fall out.

Moment in time-Kawau

Sailing
“Do you see that big blue boat with two masts?” Asked Peter. “Yeah,” we all said as the wind picked up. “Well that’s where we’re heading”. I shifted the rough, wet wooden tiller in line with the Sammy big blue boat with two masts.
The salt- tinged fresh air blew my hair in different directions. I could hear the bright bluey-green water splashing against the side of my bright, red boat. The thick, sweaty rope started to stick to my right hand. “Pull your sail in tighter,” Yelled Miss Pillay to me, I did what I was told. Peter bellowed to us again, “Guys follow me, tiller to the sail remember, tiller to the sail.”
I was getting closer to Sammy when I heard him. Tiller to the sail I told myself. As I turned I revised my promise to myself. “Don’t capsize, don’t capsize.” I was feeling proud that I didn’t capsize. The wind picked up again. We all raced towards Peter in a pack. After a while Peter told us to go back. We all groaned because we were having so much fun.

Moment in time-Kawau

Jumping off the Pontoon

Splash! Splash! The rough water quivered beneath me “My turn, my turn,” I shouted as I leaped into the shaky, icy, salt water. I could see the thin but fat kayaks with laughing parents sitting inside.
I was as nervous as the lion in the Wizard of Oz (the one with no courage).
After my first, fabulous jump off the wobbly, wooden dancing pontoon I felt so strong and proud. I felt as if I was King Kong, but then... I felt down because everyone else was doing flips and slips and bombs into the cold water. I felt nervous so I carried on with my jumps.
I kept getting wet by the grand, gruesome splashes around me from people bombing into the wavy water. I finally made a decision. I r...r...a...a...n...n up to the end of the pontoon and jumped as high as a monkey reaching for whipping vines. Wee! I shouted as I went in slow motion into the c..c...c..cold water.
I climbed onto the swaying stairs “Brr!” I shivered. I had a refreshing but salty taste in my mouth, a mixture of the salty sea water and the cool and refreshing breeze that ran through my silk, soggy hair and made it sway back and forward. Now I was so confident I would not stop jumping off....
C.S.

Moment in time-Sonshine Ranch

Horse Riding
Underneath me the horse felt wobbly, bumpy and insecure. I was horrified and nervous. I was holding the reins really tight. I was sweating from all that concentrating.
We started trotting. I was terrified because I thought I would fall off. I heard my group making a hullabaloo behind me. We went around the little course, I got confident and more confident. I was over-joyed and happy. I smelt fresh, sweet perfumed air. I saw a few flowers blooming in the trees like pohutakawas and daises on the grass. That’s where the sweet perfumed air came from. We saw the humongous horse stable. It was amazing looking at the stables. I saw Surprise’s stable. It was huge. We got to feed them. It was so magnificent. I felt so proud of myself because I sat on a horse and trotted around the course.

I was amazed and astonished that I saw Sir Prizes stable and got to ride on him and feed him hay.
B.M.

Moment in time-Kawau

Abseiling
I feel the sweaty rope as I touch it. My scrawny arms can’t reach the rebellious rope. I can hear Mr K helping me. Miss Pillay and my group are still cheering me on so I can finish it. I can smell the forest and the trees. I can taste my sweat, the wood and dirty dirt. I can only see Mel and Miss Pillay and the hard ground and lots of people. I was as scared as a Chihuahua and as shaky as a jelly. But I was as proud as a lion as I got closer to the end. As I reached the ground I was going to kiss the ground but it would have been gross.

Moment in time-Kawau

Killer Hill
We were at Kawau island. We dropped our bags and then we had to climb the vicious, dangerous Killer hill. I looked up and I felt I was going to be sick. We had to climb killer hill. I wondered why they called it killer hill...
We made our way up to the top. On the way up we were slipping and sliding down the treacherous hill, because of this I felt more determined to make my way up to the top. We still carried on. I could taste my salty sweat drawling down my warn-out face. I was sore and tired but I still carried on. I could hear branches snapping and Denzil’s voice going chat, chat, chat all the way up.
The trees were waving at us while we were walking up the brutal Killer hill. We saw Maori pits with lots of sharp sticks and lots of awesome things but was I glad to see the end. I jumped up in inspiration with the fresh air gliding me and I ended up in a big, gooey, disgusting pile of mud! The worst bit was it was sinking into my shoes. Blah!
S.G.

Moment in time-Kawau

Sailing
The cold wet smelly air was as wet as a water fall .I felt freezing soggy waves splashing against my cool calm face as the wind pushes me towards the pontoon .The boat was rocking frantically from side to side while Rui-lin and me hung on the side of the waving boat. I felt like I was going to fall over board. Then suddenly, the violent killer boat turned into a swaying sailor. I felt like I had just been in a giant dishwasher that splashes all the dirty dishes with its cool cleaning water. I smelt wet, cold fishy sea air wafting around my triangular nose. While I heard the splash of the waves against my boat and wet tangy sea waves splashing on my tongue when I swallowed. I could feel the cold wet condensation dribbling down my throat. I feel cool, calm and confident.

Moment in time-Kawau

Rope wire
As I stepped onto the wire I heard positive cheers from the children down below. After about 10 seconds the wire became slippery and sweaty. The cool breeze was refreshing as it blew by my face. It felt odd on a rope wire in the middle of the muddy jungle. Friendly Frank cheered me on and encouraged me to finish the course. He was as encouraging as my dad at one of my soccer games.
I was 100% confident. I felt strong-willed and assertive. I was as determined as an Olympic athlete to reach the end. Suddenly I was racing along the wire towards the end. I was as proud as a lion after completing the rope wire.
L.C.

Moment in time-Bivouac making

Making Bivouacs
I was there carrying muddy logs down the slippery, muddy hill. I could feel muddy, mouldy and slimy bits of wood sliding in my hot and sweaty hands. I was nearly at our bivouac but I stood on a big patch of slippery mud and fell back dropping the muddy wood all over me. I felt as if I was playing soccer. I could hear all my friends saying are you all right? Do you need some help? My friends came and helped me up off the slippery, muddy ground.
After that we started laughing about me falling over. I laughed to. When all of us stopped laughing as loud as a lion all I could hear was wood being pulled and birds chirping like they were cheering for us.
I sat in our completed bivouac, it was as awesome as me. I waited nervously for the bucket of water to be splashed over us. We were waiting and waiting. As soon as someone in our group asked are you going to splash us? They did, we got soaked.
L.H.

Moment in time-Sonshine Ranch

Kayaking-Sonshine Ranch
As I sat comfortably in my small kayak my heart was racing at the speed of light. I felt my leg wobbling as sweat was drowning down my nervous looking face. I was straight still, I was paralysed, anxious not to move one bit. Seconds later....
I got ready, then immediately I jumped! (I tried to jump and stand on the log). I heard everyone cheering and encouraging one and another. I felt wind swiftly rushing past me. I was worried at the same time as I was excited! Everybody was shouting 50 decibels loud.
Eventually my shoes landed and gripped onto the smooth surface of the slippery log! Suddenly! Slip! I flew right off the log like an eagle swooping down skimming the crystal clear bright, blue water.
Moments later.... Splash! I bombed cheerfully straight into the refreshing, aquamarine salty sea. I dived into the water like a proud, determined lion.
L.B.

Moment in time-Killer Hill (Kawau)

Killer Hill
No! I had slipped, my heart pounded so loud it was like thunder as I frantically grabbed for anything. Everything seemed to have stopped as the ground under me slipped down the steep hill. All I could see were other people falling and the lucky ones clinging to trees and ferns. Some people were drenched in mud from slipping and sliding all over the place. The smell wasn’t as bad as I thought but that doesn’t mean it smelt good. Of course there was the occasional smell of gooey, sticky mud. One of the only other bad smells was the damp smell of crumpled autumn leaves.
I felt shocked like someone hit me off guard, I felt paralysed as though I was frozen into an ice block. So instinctively, I scrambled around for something to hold onto and pull myself up.
I could feel squishy, sloppy mud and dirt under my fingers being squashed like mashed potatoes, only I wouldn’t eat it... ever. All of a sudden the trees started dripping rain water onto my head as if taunting me, distracting me from climbing.
I can taste the damp moisture in the air left by the rain, with sweat dripping down my head into my mouth with a salty taste. I was thinking I’ll never make it to the top alive, which made me more determined. I made it and live to tell the tale.
K.W.

Moment in time-Sonshine Ranch

Tyre Swing
I stretched my leg over the long distance to grab the tyre. I swam to the tyre. I couldn’t reach the tyre so I jumped off into the water. It was cold and dirty. Then I tried to get up but it was too slippery so Marcus reached out his hand and I grabbed it and I finally got out.
J.E.

Moment in time-Kayaking

Kayaking
Here I am, in my kayak paddling wildly towards Stingray Bay. I felt the wet paddle in my sweaty palms. I smelt the salty sea water in my bright yellow kayak. I saw the dazzling bays and cool, colossal coves. I heard the sound of sea water rushing past as I paddled my kayak further and further away from the beach.
Finally we were at super, special Stingray Bay. I could see a stingray as it whizzed past my brilliant boat. Trying to chase it, I lost track. I felt determined to find it. But the stingray won. It disappeared out of sight. The feeling of seeing a stingray was awesome. I felt I was going to burst with excitement.
As we paddled towards the mine, I was expecting to see a huge chimney with copper painted blue. But it was just a horrible hole in the middle of a cool cliff. But the horrible history behind it was awesomely awesome. When we were paddling our wondering way back to terrific Camp Bentzon, I was as happy as a lark and as proud as a lion to see a stingray. The water was doing the Mexican Wave as I paddled my happy kayak towards Camp Bentzon. The water was dancing past me. Finally we were at the camp site. I could finally have my morning tea.
I.K.

Moment in time-Surfing

Surfing
Slash, splash, splash! I paddled out into the rough waves as I glided slowly over the icy, cold water. I turned around to see the hugest, the most giant wave I had ever seen. And... It was heading right for me. I got ready to catch the mighty beast of a wave. SPLASH! The huge wave crashed on the back of my solid board. “Aaaaaaaa! Holy cow,” I screamed as I balanced my board on the ferocious wave. I rode the wave straight past my grubby cousin who happened to be splashing about in the water at the wrong time. The gnarly wave dunked her. The good thing was, she is an experienced body surfer so she rode the wave into shore with me. I could feel the board vibrating under my sopping feet. I could taste the salty spits of water rocketing into my sweaty face. I rode the beast all the way to shore. “Let’s go again,” I yelled.

Moment in time-Cricket

A four in cricket
As I sprinted up to the pitch I was sweating like I was a pig. I was thinking to myself... it’s time to play the game. The first ball the bowler threw, the ball hit me. I was starting to get angry. The second ball I missed. The third ball, whack, the smooth bat sent huge shock-waves into my tiny hands and the ball went flying as high as a rocket. The crowd went wild. My partner Ryan said, “Run!” I ran at the speed of light, (we ran four Times!). Our team won! I could hear the crowd cheering and clapping and lots of people came running up to me to pat me on the back and shake my hand.
E.P.

Moment in time-Soccer

Soccer
I am fearsome but rugged. I see my cousin about to pass the ball. I looked up and I saw the muddy ball coming straight for me. I felt really confident controlling the muddy ball. Seconds later I was sprinting up the field dribbling the muddy ball. Just then I saw a grubby defender. He was coming straight for me so I pretended to go one way and then I went the other way. I dodged the defender successfully and I kept running up the field.
A few seconds later I saw the goal and it was coming up fast. I went around the mucky and muddy goalkeeper. Then, before I kicked the ball in the goal I looked up and saw everyone saying “GO BEN!” It was as loud as a herd of elephants. A second later I felt really awesome because I was about to score a goal. I just rolled the ball into the back of the net. I felt as proud as a lion. And then my teammates and I celebrated for the rest of the game.

Moments in time-Kawau

Rope Bridge
I felt confident when I did the rope bridge. My heart was up and down like a jumping kid. My legs were shaking like an earthquake. When the person shook the rope I felt scared. I thought that I was going to fall but I made it. When I was doing it I could taste the Kawau breeze. I could see the man on the other side. I heard the birds cheeping like they were singing a song. I smelt the swamp below me.

The characters in this story are:  A girl called Lily, her dad, her grandma, the Fat Lady, Salome Ooze, Simon Ooze and all the circus acts ( including the animals).

The main events were:  Salome fights over the center spotlight for being a trapeze artist while sealing The Fat Lady's act.

The problems were: Lily's grandma wasn't wearing her lucky headband when she fell off the trapeze and died. Salome Ooze takes over the trapeze act from the Fat Lady.

Sigmond Slitherforth by Hayley Macduff

I have just finished a book called Simond Slitherforth. it's a crazy, cool book with a snail who has a dream to become as fast as a speedy car zooming at 200 k/m a hour.

Every day he slithers away outside without telling his Mum or Dad. When he races out of the house he always tries to race with cars, but fails. He once overtook a slug but that wasn't much of an
achievment.

Finally he comes back home exausted from all the racing and expects a growling from his Mum or Dad.
But this time it wasn't any ordinary growling he actually got abandoned from his home!

The following day Sigmond wondered off sympathetically searching for a place to stay. A few moments later.... Sigmond eyes watered delightfully as he saw his place, he was just dying to see inside?

As he entered the teeny, tiny shed he met a slater. Sigmond badly needed help so he asked the slater if he can can help him? The slater thought and he had a solution!

He showed Sigmond some four star motor oil for cars? One dive in this and Sigmond would travel at double the speed of sound! Sigmond bombed into the oil with excitement seconds later.... Sigmond jumed out like a cheerful, cheetah.WHOOO! He screamed! Then he zoomed off with a flash!

He then slithered to his old home and wrote goodbye Mum and Dad, I told you I could do it! On the hedge. The following day he got a job at NASA! They really needed a snail like him and then he flew off in a fancy space shuttle. Then not far from Mars he wrote one more thing. Love You, to all the other snails and goodbye once more.

Weather report 17.3.11

Today the clouds look like mushy, magnificent, marshmallows. The blue, clear, pool- water sky is amazing. The tall trees are as still as a killer- chasing cat trying to eat a mouse.

Weather report 17.3.11

Today the cool, crazy, crystalline sky is helping the bright sight of the gleaming, glowing sun. It is shining like a gigantic solar flare which is heating up the Earth.

Weather report 17.3.11

The dazzling, bright, blue sky glistens greatly in the shining sun.  It is nearly cloudless in the sky that looks like the cool, calm, cosy ocean.  There is a cool inviting breeze running through my brown silky hair.

Weather Report

Today the weather forecast is blue with a chance of white, wondery clouds.  The fabulous, fantastic flag is not flying too much.  The terrific trees are trying to reflect the light as the sun is too bright.  The sun is getting more powerful every day. It hasn't rained in a week!  Hope it does!

Weather report 10.3.11

Today the crystal, clear, aquamarine sky can be compared to the frosty freezing pool. I can only see one slim, thin cloud in the bright, blue sky. It look's like a dangerous dragon blowing out an enormous flaming heatwave.

Weather report 10. 3. 11

Today the extraordinary hot sun is failing to wrap it's warmth around earth. The cool Autumn breeze is a clear sign that summer is nearly over. So, I just hope that the giant sun will give us a big blast of heat later today.

Weather report 10.3.11

Today the crystal, clear sky is a fabulous sight to see. The burning hot sun feels like it's falling to Earth!
The cool breeze is trickling down my spine like a spider crawling around in it's nest. Today I hear the trees slowly swaying in the wind like a tornado destroying everything in it's path.
