RWC
Friday 9th September. The day of the Spectacular, Rugby World Cup Grand Opening! This enthusiastic, entertaining event was located near Sky City, Auckland.
Approximately, I don’t know how many people were there because there were TOO Many heads to count which gave me a headache.
Finally it was 6:15 which meant the trophy deserving Dave Dobbyn sang the heart-warming song Welcome Home, Welcome Home! (People were still humming.)
1 hour later 600 men arrived for a frightening, ferocious haka. The mind-blowing performance stunned the audience as they were paralysed to their spots.
Eventually 3 hours later! The frizzy fireworks began! The lightning extravaganza was like a thrilling, gargantuan bombing party. To everyone’s amazement it finally ended with a scrutinizing finish. Finally it was game time! The All Blacks won the game 41-10 WOOO! We Won! So it ended well! Well... that’s for New Zealand that is! So New Zealand is a happy country (for the World Cup).

Rugby World Cup
Waiting in anticipation, the lights go dark, the crowd cheers... It alls starts now, as I sit down and wait for the opening to start. I open my coke, it pops and crackles as me and my family wait for it to start. I was wondering what the score would be. The date was the 9th September on Friday. I still couldn’t believe this was happening in Auckland.
Again the lights go dark but the crowd goes quiet and the lights flash on. There, in the middle of the soft, green field is the kapa Haka group shouting the Haka full power. They look at us with their fiery eyes and their incredible black face paint. Afterwards they have a great show with a boy scoring a try against real big rugby players.
Afterwards they shot multicoloured fire works into the sky shaped like kiwis. Once that was over the game began against Tonga and New Zealand. As they started Israel Dagg was the first to score which puts the All Blacks in the lead but for how long? Explaining the whole game would take forever so let’s skip to the end. The All Blacks won forty-one ten “Yeah!”

Rugby World Cup
Recount of the RWC Opening Ceremony
On Friday 9 September tens of thousands of people gathered round to witness history. THE RUGBY WORLD CUP 2011! People from around the world came to one spot, Queen’s Wharf not just to see the brilliant firework display, but to see the first match of the RWC, NZ vs. Tonga.
The opening ceremony was brilliant as it kicked off at Party Central while at 4:30pm a fleet of 20 waka came into Queen’s Wharf. They performed a massive haka containing about 400 Maori warriors. This reporter says that the haka was spectacular and if you weren’t there you should have been there.
After the haka various things followed like John Key, the NZ prime minister, gave a super speech, a three person waka and a few singers like Dave Dobbyn and the fantabulous Fin Bro’s.
At 7:30 the fanciful fireworks brightened up the city with appealing non-stop fireworks. One person was questioned “How were the fireworks?” He replied with, “Probably the most outstanding firework disclosure seen in NZ! The display was as valuable as gold!”
Finally a French guy opened the RWC 10 minutes before the NZ vs. Tonga game and the game ended with NZ being the winner.
The RWC is now taking people from all 4 corners of the globe to one country. If you were there, what would you say?

Rugby World Cup
On Friday the 9th of September, Jonah Lomu, AKA the human steamroller stepped on the legendary field once again, for the opening ceremony of the rugby world cup, held at Eden Park to greet fans from all around the world to New Zealand.
This was followed by Tonga’s anthem and New Zealand’s beautiful national song. Seconds later the horrifying hakas took place, done by Tonga as well as the All Blacks.
Dan Carter kicked off the most anticipated match of the year, (New Zealand vs Tonga), with a big and strong kick. In the first half Israil Dag scored the first try of RWC 2011, followed by a close conversion by Carter. And then, one more try by Richard Kahui followed by another one from Daggs amazing ball skills.
Tonga kicked off the second half and then failed to stop Jerome Kanoi from getting the ball over the line for a try. Then they swapped round a replay as Tonga scored a try followed by Nonus gnarly try putting this one in the bag, in one of the last plays in the match.

Rugby World Cup
Recount about opening ceremony
For twenty five years New Zealanders have been waiting for the rugby world cup to come to them! The rugby world cup kicked off at Eden Park on Friday the ninth with an awesome ceremony with fireworks and shows. 10’s of 1000’s people gathered to make NZ history.
Lights, camera, ACTION! The ceremony was full of colours like red lava, blue water and dancing yellow. First of all, a kid named Ethan was playing a game of rugby and then big rugby players came to try and stop him. First he made the try line bend so he could put the ball down. Second he started side-stepping all the rugby players. Thirdly he ran up the players back and jumped into a swimming pool of players with a big splash.
I think that it was a great night and we had lots of fun. I can’t wait for the next RWC to come to NZ.

Our epic adventure to the Sky Tower
20 September! Our special, spectacular Sky Tower visit. Our scrutinizing faces were locked on to the tall pine tree- looking building.
We learnt some fantastic, fun-filled, fascinating facts about the tallest tower in the southern hemisphere.
*DID YOU KNOW THAT THE SKY TOWER IS THE TALLEST TOWER IN THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE?
*DID YOU KNOW THAT WHEN LOOKING OUT FROM THE MAIN OBSERVaTORY YOU CAN SEE APPROXIMATELY 82 KILOMETERS AWAY?
*DID YOU KNOW THAT THE SKY TOWER WEIGHS THE SAME WEIGHT AS 6000 ELEPHANTS?
*DID YOU KNOW THAT THE SKY TOWER IS MADE OF 3 MAIN MATERIALS; GLASS, METAL AND CONCRETE?
*DID YOU KNOW THAT IT TOOK 33 MOUNTHS TO BUILD THE SKY TOWER?
*DID YOU KNOW THAT THERE ARE 51 LEVELS TO THE MAIN OBSERVATION DECK?
*DID YOU KNOW THEY USE SOMETHING CALLED A DYNO SPHERE TO RELEASE THE LIGHTNING UNDERGROUND SO NOBODY GETS HURT?
*DID YOU KNOW THAT THE LIFTS IN THE SKY TOWER TRAVEL AT 18 KILOMETERS AN HOUR MAKING THE TRIP FROM THE GROUND TO THE MAIN OBSERVATION LEVEL A QUICK 40 SECONDS?
*DID YOU KNOW THERE ARE THREE MAIN EMERGENCY ROOMS CALLED THE REFUGE ROOMS
Highlights of our trip
Our highlights of our trip are...
*watching a 14 minute video about the history of the Sky Tower and NZ!
*going into the lift to the main observation deck.
*looking out from the observation deck.
*going down a few levels of stairs to the refuge room.
*having free time at the observation deck, looking at Rangitoto, Great Barrier island and seeing other cool stuff from the lookout.
*answering questions at the observation deck and if you got it correct you got a green dot if you got it wrong you got a red dot.And the questions were...
*What is the tallest tower in the southern hemisphere?
*What is does the Sky tower weigh?
*How long can you see by looking from the main observation deck?
So at the end everyone had a great time, learning about our new topic (structures) lots of people hope they can next time bring some $money$ and buy something hopefully, so they have a terrific time there. Just to visit though.:)

The awsome trip to the sky tower
On Tuesday 21 september 2011 Botany primary students went to the Sky tower. We learnt that the sky tower is 21 million KG!!WOW that's heavy.
More than 1000 people built it.The sky tower can withstand winds up to 200 kph now that's an amazing structure.
The sky tower is the tallest building around even bigger than the Effiel tower,Statue of Liberty, and the Empire State building.
At a normal pace it would take someone about 24 minutes to climb 1,029 steps to the main obeservation level.
The sky tower lifts travel at 18 kilometers per hour, making a trip to the main observation level a quick 40 seconds.
It was built by August 3 1997 and took 33 months to build this amazing structure out of concrete, glass, and metal.
It has 300 aerials coming off the tip of this man made structure to help t.v and police, ambulance and those types of things.
The best parts were when we could stare out the lift and look down the bottom and looking at the sky deck.
In the the end some people were talking about how awesome the Sky tower was and what they had learnt I also heard someone say that our new topic was awesome.

DID YOU KNOW?
The Amazing Sky Tower was offically opened on August the 3rd in 1997 in Auckland after 33 months of construction.
Did you know?
#That the Sky Tower is not only a New Zealand landmark, it is also a weater device, tele communications device, it's also a guidance for planes.
#It would take 37 buses standing up on end,6 thousand elephants, 8765,903 gumboots filled with concrete and 30 million pavlovas.
#At the top of the Sky Tower there is a dynosphere that stores lightning and makes it travel down to the ground in the speed of a wink.
My favourite highlights:
#That the Sky Tower's birthday is in August like mine.
#The glass floor on the observation deck that you could lie on.
#The face of the man Sky Jumping."Ahhhhhhhh!"
