HOMEWORK Room 12 Term 3 Week 1
1. Speeches
Discuss your speech ideas with adults at home. Remember it is best to write about something you know a lot about. There are ideas on the blog if you have few of your own.
2. Maths
Create a Basic Fact secret code. Do it on a separate piece of paper so a buddy can work it out. If you want to do extra maths you can try the homework that I give my maths class, you can find it on the blog.
3. Inquiry
Discuss volunteering with your family. Where have they volunteered? Why did they volunteer? How did it make them feel? What contribution did they make?
Then, look in the paper for stories about volunteers. Cut out and bring to school.

Room 12 Homework-Holidays
I hope everyone has a nice, relaxing and fun holiday. I am giving you time in advance to think about your speech topic. School speech competitions will be in the first half of term 3. I would like most people to come to school with a couple of ideas. Here are some ideas you can think about...
The speech has to be a persuasive speech.
Parents are
the best teachers.
Television
has destroyed communication among friends and family.
“When people succeed, it is because of hard work. Luck has
nothing to do with success.”
It is better for children to grow up in the countryside than in a big
city.
People should
sometimes do things that they do not enjoy doing.
The most
important aspect of a job is the money a person earns.
A person should
never make an important decision alone.
Games are
as important for adults as they are for children.
Some people say that computers have made life easier and more
convenient. Other people say that computers have made life more complex
and stressful. What is your opinion?
Technology has
made the world a better place to live.
There is
nothing that young people can teach older people.
Reading fiction
(such as novels and short stories) is more enjoyable than watching movies.
Children
should be required to help with household tasks as soon as they are
able to do so.
Playing a
game is fun only when you win.
It is better
to be a member of a group than to be the leader of a group.
What do you consider to be the most important room in a house?
Playing
games teaches us about life.
Watching
television is bad for children.
